Howth School of Fish

Not only do Dorans have the best Fishmongers on the harbour they are also owners of 3 fabulous Seafood Restaurants. Two of which are right on the harbour and beside the fishmongers directly on the harbour in Howth. It doesn’t come any fresher than that.

Dorans on the Pier are 60 years in business in all aspects of the Fishing Industry. Managing Director Sean Doran is in fact an ex Fisherman as where his father, Michael and brothers Michael jnr and Padraig before him and he lives and breathes all things fish!

Let Sean immerse you in the wonder of his Fishermans “tails”. You will get a wonderful insight of the amazing community and quirky characters who work the sea around the Irish Coast. Fishermen are truly a captivating and charming group of people.

Sean will regale you with stories of the sea both old and new and explain the challenges that face today’s fishermen. You will never take seafood for granted again when you hear the anecdotes as you take this behind the scenes, immersive tour of beautiful Howth Harbour.

Let Sean show you some of the skills that fishermen use every day. Learn some fisherman’s knots and some net mending skills but be warned the competition can be fierce!

After all the excitement you will sit back and relax with fine wine and excellent seafood in good company.

Due to public demand Sean has recently begun Howth School of Fish to facilitate the public’s interest in food providence, sourcing, sustainability and conservation methods and initiatives used within the seafood industry. This is the perfect experience for foodies, chefs and the simply curious who want to know everything about where their seafood comes from in a fun and casual setting.
