There is something truly special about knowing where your food comes from.
At Dorans on the Pier, we believe great seafood starts long before it reaches our fish counter. It begins in the waters around our beautiful coastline, with the fishermen and seafood farmers whose skill, dedication and respect for the sea bring Ireland’s finest produce to our tables.
Since 1961, we’ve been proud to work with many of these passionate producers, offering seafood that tells the story of our island nation.
Lobster – A Taste of the Irish Coast
Few seafood dishes feel more indulgent than a freshly cooked Irish lobster.
The lobsters we proudly stock are landed by local fishermen working the waters around Howth. Their days often begin before sunrise, hauling traditional pots that have been carefully set along our coastline.
Each lobster is a reminder that some of the very best seafood doesn’t need to travel halfway around the world. Sometimes it’s waiting just a few miles from our own harbour.
Sweet, delicate and packed with flavour, Irish lobster is one of nature’s true luxuries.
Brown Crab – A Local Favourite
Irish brown crab has earned an international reputation for its rich, sweet flavour.
Caught in the cold, clean waters around our coast, these magnificent shellfish are carefully handled to ensure they reach us in peak condition.
Whether enjoyed dressed, added to a seafood salad or served simply with crusty bread and a squeeze of lemon, crab is one of the true treasures of Irish waters.
Razor Clams – One of Ireland’s Hidden Gems
Razor clams remain one of Ireland’s best-kept seafood secrets.
Harvested from clean sandy seabeds, these elegant shellfish are prized by chefs for their delicate texture and naturally sweet flavour.
Quickly cooked with butter, garlic, pancetta or fresh herbs, razor clams offer a wonderful taste of the sea that’s both refined and surprisingly simple to prepare.
If you’ve never tried them before, they might just become your new favourite.
Carlingford Oysters – A True Taste of Place
Every oyster tells the story of where it was grown.
We’re proud to source our oysters from Carlingford Oysters Ltd, where generations of experience combine with the unique conditions of Carlingford Lough to produce oysters of exceptional quality.
The lough’s sheltered waters, nutrient-rich tides and ideal growing conditions create oysters with a beautifully balanced flavour.
Among our favourites are the LF Oysters, named after the Louët-Feisser family. Smaller, sweeter and wonderfully elegant, they perfectly showcase the unique merroir of Carlingford Lough.
Freshly shucked and served simply, they offer an authentic taste of Ireland’s coastline.
Supporting Local Communities
Choosing Irish seafood means far more than enjoying a delicious meal.
It supports:
- Local fishermen and their families.
- Irish oyster farmers and shellfish producers.
- Coastal communities.
- Traditional skills passed from one generation to the next.
- Sustainable food production rooted in our marine environment.
Every purchase helps keep these traditions alive.
