Sometimes you don’t realise how much time has passed until you stop and look around.
The boats are coming and going, visitors are strolling along the West Pier, and another summer is beginning to take shape in Howth. Here at Dorans, we’re preparing for one of our busiest seasons of the year, and as we do, we’re reflecting on how much has changed and how much has stayed the same.
This year marks 65 years of Dorans on the Pier. Since 1961, generations of customers have called in for their Friday fish, picked up seafood for family celebrations, and shared stories across the counter. We’ve seen children grow up, become parents themselves, and return with families of their own.
That sense of family remains at the heart of everything we do.
Recently, we had a lovely reminder of that when two members of our extended Dorans family, Conor from the fish shop and Nicole from Octopussy Seafood Tapas Bar, welcomed their beautiful baby daughter, Mia, into the world. We’d like to wish them every happiness as they begin this exciting new chapter together.
Moments like these remind us that while businesses are built on products and services, they’re sustained by people. The friendships, hard work, loyalty and community connections formed over the years are what truly make a place special.
As we look ahead to the summer months, we’re excited about what’s to come. Fresh seafood, ready meals prepared by our chef, familiar faces behind the counter, and perhaps a few new surprises along the way.
