From a Simple Question to an Irish Seafood Success Story: Discover the Shines Seafood Range

Sometimes the best ideas begin with a simple question.

For the Shine family, it started with one asked by their daughter, Ciara.

After tasting exceptional tuna in Spain’s Basque Country years earlier, Ciara turned to her parents and asked:

“Why can’t we get that tuna in Ireland?”

That simple question sparked an adventure that would eventually lead to the creation of Shines Seafood in 2015.

Today, Shines Seafood has become one of Ireland’s most exciting food success stories, producing a premium range of Irish tuna, sardines and mackerel products that celebrate the incredible quality of our seas.

At Dorans on the Pier, we’re always delighted to stock products that share our passion for great seafood, quality ingredients and family traditions.

Bringing Premium Seafood to Irish Tables

The Shines range was born from a desire to make exceptional seafood more accessible to people at home.

Their products are:

  • Rich in natural protein
  • Full of flavour
  • Convenient and versatile
  • Perfect for quick lunches and easy dinners
  • A fantastic pantry staple

Whether it’s a tin of mackerel on brown bread, a quick tuna salad or a pasta dish packed with flavour, these products prove that good seafood doesn’t need to be complicated.

A Celebration of Irish Seafood

One of the things we admire most about Shines Seafood is their commitment to showcasing Irish seafood and encouraging more people to enjoy it regularly.

Seafood is one of nature’s great superfoods, providing:

  • High-quality protein
  • Omega-3 fatty acids
  • Vitamins and minerals
  • Delicious flavour and versatility

Having quality seafood products in the cupboard means a nutritious meal is never far away.

Ciara’s Catch: More Than a Cookbook

We’re also delighted to have Ciara’s Catch: Shines Seafood Story and Recipes in stock.

Part cookbook, part family story and part celebration of Irish seafood, the book tells the remarkable journey of how a simple question grew into a thriving Irish seafood business.

Inside, Ciara shares:

  • Her family’s story
  • Beautiful seafood recipes
  • Inspiration from Shines Seafood ambassadors
  • Contributions from Irish seafood producers
  • Simple and delicious ways to enjoy fish at home

The recipes are approachable, practical and designed to show just how easy it is to create fantastic dishes using quality seafood products.

Bringing More Seafood into Everyday Life

At Dorans, we’re always encouraging people to enjoy more seafood.

It doesn’t have to be reserved for special occasions.

A few quality tins or jars in the cupboard can transform a quick lunch, a family dinner or a last-minute meal.

The Shines range is proof that convenience and quality can go hand in hand.
